THE ZOO

North was sitting in her office absently playing with the SLINKY, she had confiscated from Birkoff, thinking about the last mission. Everything had gone according to plan. The profile that Rita had suggested had worked out well. Michael, wearing his tight LEATHER mission pants, had strolled by at just the right time in order to distract the woman they had been sent in to grab. In fact it had almost worked too well as quite a few of the women operatives had also stopped to stare and drool. Good thing they had taken the men along to do the actual grab.
Reaching into her desk drawer, North pulled out a bag of goodies, and putting her hand inside, pulled out a NUBBIN and popped it into her mouth. Aly had handed them out a while ago to everyone in CLHQ in the hopes of getting rid of them. They were actually quite tasty even if she didn’t know exactly what was in them.
Popping another one into her mouth, she slowly chewed it savoring the flavor. It wasn’t long before the bag was empty and she rummaged around her desk looking for something else to munch on.
Just then Perry came knocking on her door. "Hi North. I hear the mission went well. Congratulations my dear."
"Thanks Perry. It did go rather well." North answered smiling.
"You have any plans for this afternoon?"
"No. Why? Did you have something in mind?"
"Well, if you’ve got nothing planned then I thought we would go out and enjoy the day together."
"Oh? and just where would we go?"
Perry walked over to the desk and leaned over as if to kiss her but whispered in her ear instead. "Believe it or not, I’ve never been to the zoo and they have this special attraction this week and I kinda thought it would be nice to go."
North started to laugh. "You’ve never been to the zoo??"
"No, I haven’t and I don’t see that it’s funny." he pouted. Such a cute pout too.
"I’m sorry, but you have to admit it’s kinda funny in a way. Okay, let’s go." North got up and grabbed her purse and jacket and they were on their way.

A short while later they arrived at the zoo. They saw the lions and the tigers and the giraffes and the elephants but Perry was most enthralled with the MONKEYS.
"Look at the way they SCRUNCH up their faces North. I think that is so cute."
North rolled her eyes and just shook her head. "It’s no big deal Perry and I certainly don’t think they are cute. Look how they hiss and spit. That big one over there seems to be the boss of this pen and if he doesn’t get his way he spits. Yuck."
"Okay, fine. I know you don’t think this is fun but I do appreciate you coming with me. I didn’t exactly have a ‘normal’ childhood and this was one of the things I missed out on doing with my parents. In fact we didn’t do a whole lot of anything together." Perry explained. "After Dad went to jail and my Mom got charged with soliciting, I didn’t see a whole lot of them."
"I’m sorry Perry. I didn’t know that. I’m sorry I laughed at you earlier and I’m glad we came. Hey, you ever been to the circus?"
"No. Never went there either. Why?"
"Well I hear they are coming to town next week. How would you like to go?"
"You’re serious? You’re not just making fun of me are you?"
"Yes. Dead serious. And no I am not making fun of you. I love the circus and if you’ve never been then you will love it. I guarantee it."
"Okay. It’s a date then. Just tell me when and where and I’ll get us there."
"Okay. It’s a date."
They wandered around the zoo for a while and a short while later headed back to CLHQ. After they had had their fill of cotton candy and peanuts.
